Tibetan Prayer Flags
The Tibetan people refer to horizontal Prayer Flags as Lung Ta, which means “Wind Horse.” They believe that by hanging the flags in high places the Wind Horse will carry the blessings printed on the flags to all beings. As the sun and wind fade the colors, the distributed blessings become a permanent part of the universe. Prayers flags are said to bring Happines, Long Life, and Prosperity to the flag planter and anyone in the surrounding area.
The writing on the flags include mantras of Padmasambhava (Guru Rinpoche), Chenrezi, and Manjushri. According to the Nyingma School (Ancient Ones), the five colors of the flags represent the five elements - blue for space, white for air, red for fire, green for water, and yellow for earth.
